Launching our intrepid commercial shingle and naming it CHROMISTA alongside his TV and feature outfit PROTOZOA speaks to Darren’s history as a biology buff and a dedicated activist for science in general. His roots here go as far back as serving as a field biologist in Kenya and Alaska before embarking on his undergrad at Harvard, where he studied social anthropology and filmmaking. After Harvard, his love of film took center stage at the prestigious AFI Conservatory, where he studied directing and his senior thesis film, Supermarket Sweep, became a National Student Academy Award finalist. Consistently over the course of his career, Aronofsky has excelled with his keen and intentional eye for producing, his renown as a “formidable director of actors,” and the acclaim he receives for his often surreal and thought-provoking work.
