Hala Matar is the first female director from Bahrain to have made a feature with her film ELECTRA starring Academy Award nominee Maria Bakalova (Borat 2, Guardians of the Galaxy). The film, which she co-wrote, will be in theaters in May 2025.  Hala's unique vision is in the vein of Emerald Fennell. She's created unique shorts featuring Kristen Stewart, Chloe Sevigny, Johnny Knoxville, Karl Glusman, Suki Waterhouse, and Anton Yelchin, music videos for Interpol and The Strokes, as well as commercials for top luxury brands including Chanel, Kenzo, and Vivienne Westwood, to name a few. Her work has been featured in Rolling Stones, Pitchfork, Vogue, NME, Spin, NME, W Magazine, Nylon, CNN and Harpers. She is currently in development on her next feature.
